Conveniently situated at the entrance to The Glades, Bread Ahead is a treat for the senses.
Firstly, the strong smell of coffee invites you into a light, airy atmosphere with comfortable seating and restful background music.
A delicious range of sweet and savoury breakfast foods are well presented at affordable prices.
When I visited the café with my grandma, I also found the service very efficient.
The staff member who served us was helpful, friendly and happy to accommodate our personal preferences.
We arrived in time for breakfast, and although trade was brisk with some eating at tables and many calling in for a takeaway, we only had a short wait before our food arrived.
Our main difficulty was in deciding what to choose as it all looked so inviting.
Bread Ahead has its own bakery in Wembley, London, where all their food is made fresh every day.
Over two visits, we sampled both savoury and sweet breakfast fare and were very impressed overall.
The hot croissant was loaded with cheese and the pain au chocolat was a good-sized portion with just the right amount of chocolate.
The apple and blueberry crumble muffin was moist and flavoursome.
The cinnamon buns were perfect for an autumn morning.
Bread Ahead also offers a good range of beverages to accompany these treats.
The Americano coffee was excellent - very smooth with no bitter aftertaste, whilst the hot chocolate was full of flavour without being too rich or overly sweet.
Whilst we were there, people popped in to buy Bread Ahead’s trademark sourdough loaves and we learned that later in the morning, freshly baked pizzas and doughnuts would be arriving for the lunch and teatime periods as Bread Ahead is open from 8.a.m. to 7.p.m. every day except Sunday when it opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m.
We came away feeling replenished and very happy!
Overall, our experience was excellent, and we will definitely be returning for breakfast and, hopefully, lunch in the future.
Bread Ahead is definitely a cafe to revisit.
