Can a puzzle-solving introvert solve the disappearance of his twin brother, as well as a few murders along the way?
Ludwig, a new 6-episode TV production starring David Mitchell and Anna Maxwell Martin, is a hybrid crime-comedy series that is just as captivating as it is humorous.
A viewer who watched Ludwig with me described the show as ‘‘A twist on the traditional murder mystery.’’
This show is perfect for fans of productions such as ‘The Mentalist’ and ‘Knives Out’
It is suitable for viewers who enjoy the ‘unlikely hero’ character type or an unpredictable plot.
‘Ludwig’ is set in Cambridge, with incredible cinematography of the university campus and the city as a whole.
The show follows John Taylor, an agoraphobic, unmarried man who is abruptly called up to Cambridge by his sister-in-law regarding the suspicious nature of his twin brother James’ disappearance.
John is set with the task of impersonating his brother who was working in the police force, to better understand the enigmatic life of his brother, and search for answers.
But John is faced with a problem - in taking his brother's place, he actually has to work as a renowned detective.
Having to investigate many crime scenes, John rapidly adjusts to the job despite his lack of qualifications, effortlessly using his puzzle-solving skills to crack cases otherwise marked as ‘accidents’.
Regardless of whether you are interested in the crime genre, or just love David Mitchell, this show would be perfect for anyone seeking an escape.
