Including the temporary appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy, there have been nine separate Manchester United managers since Sir Alex left the club in May 2013.

Since then, they have not won a single premier league, and only major trophies have been: 1x Europa league, 2x FA Cup and 2x EFL cup.

Obviously, for a club like Manchester United, this is not meeting the expectations of arguably the biggest club in the world from the late 90s to early 2010s, therefore many fans have become fed up with the fact that the team can’t seem to win major trophies that often.

I decided to interview a lifelong fan of Manchester United, Simon Tranter, and asked him some questions about the club in general, including some notable events that have happened at the club.

When did you first start supporting United?

1977

What were they like as a team growing up?

‘I remember them being fairly successful, but then by the mid-80s, it had all gone wrong.’

What has been your opinion of the club since Sir Alex left?

‘It has been one of constant change, managers come in and don’t last very long, and apart from Solskjær, they just don’t seem to understand the United way and spirit. Too much money has been wasted buying players who fundamentally don’t fit in.’

What did you think of Ronaldo coming and eventually leaving the Club?

‘I think he has a bit of an attitude problem, this meant that the team was designed around him, which just didn’t work.’

Do you think ten Hag’s first season at Manchester United gave you a false sense of hope?

‘Ten Hag’s first season at United gave everybody a false sense of hope, but ultimately, he was out of his depth. ‘

Some people at the end of last season thought that Ten Hag should have been sacked no matter the result of the FA Cup, what did you think of this?

‘I also believed he should have been sacked no matter the outcome of the FA cup final, and all it did was buy him a little more time until his sacking recently.’

Which new manager would u like to see take charge of the club?

‘It’s got to be somebody with proven experience at the absolute top of European football, but also a manager who understands what the Manchester United DNA is all about.’

So, that’s just the view of one United fan, with everyone else entitled to their own opinion, but it has got to be said that Manchester United need a manger that can take them to the top again, the question is, are they ever going to find one?
