Dogs have often been named a 'Man's best friend' but what about the little fuzz balls known as cats?
They have no such nickname and yet, they are the second most owned pet world wide. What benefits do these animals have that cause their popularity?
Here are some reasons:
Cats are Natural Alarms - If you ever have trouble waking up, simply adopt a cat and you will never be late.
Cats have an uncanny ability to alert you at mealtimes, and if you have not set up a timer, then be prepared to be woken up at 6 on the dot to angry meows and fur on your face.
They will wake you up whether you've had no sleep or too much, as long as they get fed.
This means never being late, and possibly never having a full night of sleep again.
Cats are also surprising exercise partners.
They will frequently run away from their homes, even if it is the height of opulence and luxury to their little hearts, simply because they wish to.
This means running after your sheltered pets to keep them away from danger, heightening your adrenaline and reducing your calories.
Cats are the perfect exercise partners because, before you know it, you’ve engaged in a full workout and your cat considers it fun play time (even if you are close to death from too much exercise)
Cats are also natural mischief makers, so they will periodically eat food they should not be eating.
This means sending their owners into overdrive when they get stomach aches or become sick.
This sense of urgency—combined with the love and care owners have for their pet—keeps their mind sharp and engaged.
They will find themselves monitoring their cat's health, adjusting their diet, and staying active and alert, which ultimately sharpens their mind.
This means adopting little heart attacks will keep you alert all day, every day.
Despite all of their (non-existent) faults however, the benefits far outweigh the cons. Cats can be loving, cuddly animals when they want to, and if you deserve their love, they will give it freely and happily.
