The musical SIX at the Vaudeville Theatre, in London is the most tremendous and amazing musical I have seen.
This musical was first performed in 2018 at the Norwich Playhouse and it is about the wives of Henry VII.
Throughout the whole musical, the audience gets to learn and explore the different wives of Henry VII, through songs.
It starts with the first wife, Catherine of Argon, then Anne Boleyn, then Jane Seymour, then Anne of Cleves, then Katherine Howard, and finally Catherine Parr.
All the wives tell their stories, of how they met Henry VII and what life was like married to the King of England.
The wives all have different songs, and there are songs that they all perform together.
Some of the songs are sad but some are upbeat and interesting as well.
What I really liked about this musical, is that they gave it a modern twist to it, so the people playing the wives weren`t wearing boring old medieval clothes but very colorful and shiny dresses or trousers.
All the songs throughout the musical were magnificent, some of the songs were, Hans Holbein, Ex-Wives, heart of Stone, no way and etc.
The voices of the actors playing the wives were so strong and powerful and really moving at the same time.
What one person had to say is that “ it was the most amazing musical but felt more at a concert than a musical.
The singing was out of this world. And I would highly recommend it. “
In terms of the design of the background, it was minimalistic but I think it had to be because you also had the fantastic band at the back as well and of course the people who play the wives.
Additionally, what I found different about this musical is that you can video the last song at the end.
whereas with other plays or musicals, I have been to, you are not allowed to take your phone out at all, and I think it was really good to be able to do that with this.
In total, I think this musical is worth seeing, and it is not very hard to get to this theatre either, so I definitely highly recommend it to families.
