Me Before You- book review

This book is a tragical romance about a carefree, charismatic Louisa Clark that is content with her boyfriend, living with her parents and working in a café in a town where everyone knows everyone.

She becomes the carer of a used to be full of life William Traynor who, in an unfortunate accident loses his freedom and needs constant care to live despite him not wanting to live.

They fall in love and his ambitions rub onto her and her optimistic attitude rubs onto him… just not enough.

The author- Pauline Sara Jo Moyes (Jojo Moyes) was born and brought up in London and is a novelist and journalist with degrees in Journalism from local universities.

She has won many awards specifically for this book such as Gold Hall of Fame and was nominated for Book of the Year at the Galaxy Book awards.

Not only that but this book was adapted into a film, starring Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin.

This adaptation is by far the best of any book to movie and the film may even surpass the book as it truly captured the essence of the book making anybody resort to tears even if they knew exactly how the book goes.

This book was “inspired by a news story I heard about on the radio about a young quadriplegic who persuaded his parents to end his life”- Bookpage interview Jojo Moyes.

The way I see it this book gives hope to those who believe their life is just in the town they were born; it forces you to rethink about your ambitions and to enjoy life to the fullest while you are physically able to.

The ending of the book was the best as their story was doomed before they even met.

His life ended the day his accident occurred, and nothing could stop him from making that official and she tried her hardest and could only postpone the inevitable.

Any book with a sunshine girl and grumpy boy trope with a tragic ending- count me in.

This book is the 1st in its trilogy with After You and Still Me following it.
