Tucked away on a cobbled street behind Russell Square Station sits Fortitude Bakery, seemingly simple, but holding so much more inside.
This bakery has been called one of the best in London, so we had to check it out for ourselves.
People sat around with boxes, eating their baked goods, giving us a preview of what was to come.
Inside, a line of people stood, eagerly waiting to order and enjoy.
The staff served with a smile on their faces, greeting and helping customers.
Daniel Mansouri, a customer, said 'The staff are friendly and helpful and all the food looks amazing'
The main attractions of this bakery are the cream filled beignets, so we ordered a chocolate flavoured one.It definitely lived up to the hype, as it was sweet, flavourful and baked very well.
We also ordered a focaccia pizza, topped with tomato sauce, pesto and cheese and a pear and chocolate pastry.
These were both delectable, with the pastry being our favourite.
The pastry was the perfect dessert and the highlight of our visit. It was packed with flavour and exceeded our expectations. We would definitely recommend trying when you visit.
Daniel Mansouri also said 'The poached pear pastry was filled with cream and chocolate and was heavenly'
Along with our baked goods, we ordered hot drinks. The hot chocolate was rich and delicious and paired nicely with our food.
Our experience at the bakery could not have been better. The atmosphere was great and the food was amazing. As well as this, although being very popular, it was not crowded or overly busy, making it easy to order and then collect your food.
So we definitely recommend this London gem. Whether you are going for a day out or just passing for breakfast, we promise they won't disappoint. We can confidently say that this is one of the best bakeries in the city.
