On the 16th November, Parmiter’s School hosted a fantastic quiz night for the students of the Sixth Form. Over 50 students participated, with 9 teams taking part.

The quiz rounds were engaging, with some familiar and some unusual, thanks to the quiz masters Neha and Amelia.

The night began with superhero anagrams and a Muppets character name sheet, to keep the teams busy while the main quiz rounds took place. Beginning with a general knowledge warm-up round, the quiz moved on to a popular music round, featuring some classics. This followed by an unusual but entertaining addition of a languages round. The questions were in different languages - which you had to name, as well as find the answer to the question!

Alongside the main event, refreshments were being sold by two enterprise teams, Team Infinity, raising money for the KDM Foundation Charity and Team Aspiration, raising funds for Charlie’s Gift. Both are extremely worthy causes and both raised a lot of money to go towards them.

The well-loved dingbats was next up, before another unexpected round: missing recipe ingredients. This included being given a recipe and figuring out what it was missing, as well as naming the dish. To end was another creative round, a personal favourite, linking four unrelated question answers together (similar to the NYT connections). Here is one you can try (answer at the bottom of the article).

1. Name of the character Sylvester Stallone played in an infamous boxing movie of the same name?

2. What is the name of the sandwich that has three layers of bread?

3. Emperor and king flightless bird

4. What is lit up on the front of a London cab?

This was a lovely night for everyone, a great way for everyone to have fun and relax with friends in a busy half term leading up to Christmas. A huge thanks goes to both Neha and Amelia, as well as Mrs Cave for organising. The students all thoroughly enjoyed the night, and can’t wait for next year’s!
