Christmas kicked off in Coulsdon on the 16th of November with the annual church fair decorating the looming arches with colourful bunting and cheerful locals. Stalls filled the hall - with attractions for all ages - from colouring future decorations to raffles to jewellery stands. The festive event not only lit up the church for the weekend but provided valuable funding for the continued running of this important aspect of the community.

One of the stalls gave the exciting opportunity to test your luck on a bottle raffle - enticing plenty of attempts from younger visitors who couldn’t seem to grasp the diminishing number of available bottles, and so the lower odds of them finally getting their deserved prize. Assortments of alcoholic beverages also brought in plenty of adults to have a shot, although they seemed to give up far more readily.

Aside from the entertainment and mirth, the fair also brings the community together - illuminating the darkening winter days with Christmas cheer and establishing a community spirit as people come together to help support the church and its role in the local area.

The volunteers who worked to run the event and supply the attractions and copious amounts of mulled wine also played an unquestionable role in the celebrations and the sustained running and fantastic provisions within the Church would not be possible without their efforts.

Christmas spirit undoubtedly permeated throughout the community with people from all corners coming together to enjoy the festivities and ensure a lively and engaging atmosphere throughout the day.
