On the evening of November 21st, I had the privilege of experiencing one of London’s most renowned winter attractions – Hampton court palace ice rink.
Against the backdrop of the historic Tudor palace, the rink promises an elegant and fun-filled evening, in which you become fully immersed in the festive spirit.
The VIP experience
Attending the VIP launch night, my experience began with a warm welcome and a selection of complimentary drinks to set the mood.
The Admirable Crichton have returned to cater this year, so, whether you prefer a crisp glass of prosecco, a mulled wine or a non-alcoholic option like their luxury hot chocolate topped with marshmallows and creme there is something for everyone.
The event began with live classical music by a trio of musicians who played a collection of Christmas classics alongside classical renditions of more modern songs.
Guests had the chance to socialise before being invited ring side to take in the views of the palace and watch a special performance on the ice.
Two professional skaters from Dancing On Ice, Vanessa Bauer and Hamish Garman marked the launch with a magical routine, a captivating performance of grace and precision.
The Rink
Following the professional performance, guests were given the option to lace up their skates and take to the ice themselves and whether novice or seasoned skaters, attendees embraced the opportunity.
Mark Wetherall, a fellow guest, said it was a “really good and enjoyable experience” that he would “recommend to all”, even if, like him, you only skate at this time of year.
The rink, which opened to the public on November 22nd and operates daily until January 5th (excluding Christmas Day), is well -maintained and spacious, with friendly staff ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience on the ice.
The festive lights and beautifully illuminated palace provide a stunning backdrop, making it a perfect outing for families, couples or groups of friends celebrating the Christmas season.
