A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson is a popular, young adult book.
It is the first book of the Good Girl's Guide to Murder trilogy.
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder follows school girl Pippa (Pip) Fitz-Amobi who investigates an old murder case in her home town, for her EPQ project.
As proof of her work on the investigation, Pip records the interviews she conducts with possible suspects and friends and family of the victim Andie Bell.
I found the transcripts especially interesting to read because it allowed the characterisation to be more in depth and allowed me as a reader to pick up on small clues as I went along, to try and figure out the mystery for myself.
In regards to pacing, I feel that it is important for books to maintain the same pace throughout, otherwise you may lose intrigue if the main plot happens quickly, and the rest of the book feels very slow.
The pacing of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder was very consistent, so as a reader I didn't feel bored at any point.
Despite my greatest efforts to solve the mystery for myself, Holly Jackson is a queen of twists and turns, which left my jaw on the floor.
People often say to savour good things that come to them however I could not resist but to finish the entirety of the book within a day.
Some of my peers who have also read A Good Girl's Guide to Murder said that 'It hooked me immediately with its entertaining plot.' and 'All the plot twists were extremely interesting.'
Evidently, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is a memorable book that will have you on the edge of your seat.
This is a young adult book, so it would be best for readers 12+.
Overall, I rate A Good Girl's Guide to Murder five stars, and would recommend it to anyone who is a mystery lover and in need of a fast paced book.
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is a great series to become invested in.
