Residents and commuters in Raynes Park are all too familiar with the frustrating impact of heavy rainfall.

Local underpasses frequently flood during downpours, causing significant traffic congestions throughout the surrounding streets.

These bottlenecks create long delays, making already challenging journeys even more difficult for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians alike.

The recurring issue highlights the urgent need for proactive maintenance.

The council must collaborate with utility companies to ensure that roads, gutters, drains and surrounding areas are properly cleared and maintained throughout the year.

Blocked drains, fallen leaves and debris exacerbate the problem, leading to avoidable disruptions that cause misery for many during the wetter months.

Swift action is necessary to prevent these frequent disruptions and ensure smoother, safer travel for the Raynes Park community.

With proper upkeep and infrastructure improvements, the area can avoid the severe traffic build-up and frustration that heavy rain consistently brings.

Storm Bert sure made its entrance into London, sweeping trees, causing floods, destroying habitats and many more issues caused across the local area.

This deeply affected the local community with disrupting commuters, disabling those who use this path daily.

As a result, delaying them further on their journey leading to  them having to be diverted and take a longer route, of course blocked with traffic.

This unfortunate occurrence has led to civilians being delayed on their way to work and school which could potentially risk their punctuality records to something that was way out of their control.

Moreover, the lack of warning resulted in locals being unprepared for the strong winds of approximately 25mph.

Isabel Suarez, a teacher at Ursuline High School was personally affected by the flooding, as 'instead of 5 minutes it added an extra 45 minutes to my journey into work.'

Due to this, 'it triggered feelings of anxiety and stress, especially by being forced to turn around, this caused for me to hit the signage adding to the levels of stress.

I then had to sit in very heavy diverted traffic causing me to get to work 25 minutes late.'

Consequently, the arise of these feelings evidently resulted in her feeling overwhelmed due to the flooding and lack of alternative routes, leading to her causing damage to her vehicle whilst being delayed on her journey to work.

Hence why it is paramount that this issue is resolved, in order to provide aid for the local residents and commuters.
