Christmas is one of the most magical times of the year, and Hemel understands that.

On the 16th of November, Christmas arrived at Hemel Hempstead. Masses of people gathered together to mark the special moment of the Christmas lights turning on in the town centre. Despite the fact that it was absolutely freezing, me and my friends ran to the town for this event, all of us filled with excitement.

Then in 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1, the town was glowing with the spirit of Christmas! Music echoed through the crowd and joy fulfilled each and every person. Then suddenly fireworks exploded from the roof of the Marlowes - flames of pink, blue, and red coloured the sky; it was an amazing feeling watching them above, knowing that Christmas isn’t very far off now…

Beside the lights, there were also many things available for people to do and buy. For example, there were various food stands like hot dogs and churros. There were also multiple stalls selling light up objects like swords and wands, and there was even a crystal stand where people could buy some jewellery!

Overall it was a fantastic experience and I seriously can’t wait for Christmas to arrive!
