Yeezy Hype Train – Is it falling apart?

In mid to late 2015, rapping icon Kanye West revealed to us what we now know as the Adidas Yeezy Line of sneakers, collaborated with Adidas, which drove the hype as Ye was making shoes with Nike in previous years. Shoes with the likes of the Air Yeezy 2 “Red October”, “Pure Platinum”, “Solar Red”. These silhouettes resell now for around £3000 – 4000, depending on sizes. This insane resell value is perhaps due to the incredible, historic, and sneaker - making revolutionary rivalry, Nike and Adidas.

Starting in the last quarter of the 20th century, the two companies have been at it with each other ever since, with Nike releasing Jordans, or Adidas releasing Yeezys, and getting Ye to wear silhouettes such as the ‘Ultra Boost’, which is now one of the most hyped and considered as one, if not the best running trainer made of all time.

It’s certainly in a place it hasn’t been before, but Yeezys will continue to sell out even if not as quick as they once did,” explained Mike “Mr. Foamer Simpson” Lytle. “So dead? Sure, if you’re looking at it relative to the previous Yeezy hype, you could say that. But not if you throw it into the mix with everything else. There’s still quite a bit of hype.”

So, does Kanye really still have it in him, or is his line and branding dead?
