I Believe In Unicorns is a beautiful play and a great way to introduce young children to the theatre and the joy it brings.

The setting is a library with multiple stacks of books, which are cleverly used as props. The narrator and librarian (Danyah Miller) tells the story of Jack and his daily visits to the library in a small village, set in pre – WW2. It was very interactive and fun with audience participation from; passing books town the rows from the front to the stage, to contributing silly words for Danyah to cleverly craft a story. Mother of a teen and toddler, Kara Thompson, commented: “This play was amazing! My toddler loved it and it has encouraged my teen to go to the theatre more often.”

At the end of the play, author (of the original children’s book) Michael Morpurgo hosted a Q&A where anyone of any age could participate and multiple questions where asked, such as his inspiration for the book.  When we left the theatre, there was a giant book swap for all the children that brought books with them.

Overall, this play was hands-on and enjoyable for anyone ages 5 to 95 and I recommend you go and see it, whether you have kids or not!
