Health meeting at Carew
On Friday of the 19th of January, a couple of people from the local NHS visited Carew Academy in Wallington Surrey. They were hoping to chat to one of the classes from their sixth form for 45 minutes. They wanted to talk about what sort of jobs or work places they would like to go to when they leave.
The pupils interest
The pupils told them what they would like to do after college. One of the pupils said that he wanted to be a "car salesman" because he "likes cars" and is 'good at maths'.
Another pupil wanted to be a "paramedic" because she liked the thought of "helping sick or very hurt people". Another pupil said he would like to be "a gamer and play games". Finally, the last pupil from the class said he would like to "make games".
I want to be a journalist and story writer because I have always loved writing, definitely in stories because I get to use my imagination to create my own worlds on paper.
What else the NHS want to talk about?
The NHS also wanted to talk to the class from the sixth form of Carew about what they think about the sorts of people that could help them within their job. One student thought that "the people that work there can show people around and sell the cars". Another student thought that he “would like to make some friends". Another student wanted the people to help and show him how to make "character designs and art, environment and objects". One student couldn't think of anything. I thought even though I wanted to be self-employed I wanted people that could help me edit and publish my books and help sell them too.
They also talked about what our work experiences were like and what sort of things we had to do in each one.
Last chats
Our last few final chats before they left was a few last questions they wanted to ask us. One of them were 'if it was your first day of your work what would you not want to happen?'
'"What your first thoughts of being at your dream job?"
"What would you like your colleagues to know about you as a person?" The final proper question that they asked before the meeting was over was.
"How would you get to that job that you want to get?"
Final thoughts
I thought it was brilliant getting to talk to the people from the NHS and answering their questions. I and the rest of the class enjoyed it.
